Kenya Interfaith Network for Action on Environment (KINAE) in collaboration with its member network Mother Earth Network (M-e-net) on 28th of May kicked off a tree planting campaign at Presbyterian University of East Africa. The tree planting is envisioned to establish an interfaith forest of 10,000 seedlings that will be used as a demonstration by the interfaith on involvement in tree planting for conservation.

The campaign kicked off by planting of the first 1300 seedlings among which 500 seedlings were supported by KINAE under its faith based tree planting program this is in line with the network objective of increasing the forest cover in the country by motivating the interfaith to actively get involved in tree planting for conservation and care for creation.

Speaking during the occasion the deputy vice chancellor urged the students to be environmental conscious as the country needs more of tree planting initiatives “we will actively get involved in tree planting as we envision green university with good environment” added   the Vice chancellor.

the tree planting efforts will go as KINAE is expected to take key role in ensuring the trees are grown properly as the university ensure proper after care and maintenance of the seedlings planted this effort was also done in collaboration with Kenya Forest Service a government agency charged with responsibility of taking care and nurturing Kenyan forests and forest resources.
